The use of dynamic colors and the expression of movement are hallmarks of my oil paintings and collages. The colors I choose are independently selected and purposely mixed. The teachings of Hofmann compel me to allow "form to exist through color" and the wisdom of Kandinsky admonishes me to consider carefully each point, line and plane. I paint with an emotional and an intellectual passion, massing color, lines and forms in interdependent dialogue and create series paintings with dedicated themes. I use dramatic colors and create intricate formations merging multiple layers of background and foreground elements in rhythmic structures. My paintings depict movement of natural forces bounded by space with the turbulent movement of psychological forces bounded by universal gods. Titles are chosen for each work as it emerges or after contemplation of the finished painting or collage. My works explore life as a significant and unique journey. Hopefully, the images in my paintings will evoke memories and feelings from your life journey. As Dag Hammarskjold, the Swedish statesman, wrote: "The more faithfully you listen to the voice within you, the better you will hear what is sounding outside." Since 2007 my paintings and collages have been in 17 solo shows and over 59 group shows in New Jersey, New York and Florida; have been selected for numerous Juried shows; have been awarded three First Prizes; have been featured in art magazines, the Manhattan International Art Online Gallery, and are in private and public collections in the United States and in the Netherlands. I am an active member of the Art Students League, The Pen and Brush, Inc. and the Manhattan International Art Online Gallery in New York City, New York and in New Jersey the Contemporary Art Group.
