My work springs from a deep love of nature, people and animals, music, poetry and dance. I enjoy and participate in different creative pursuits like dance, poetry and music; undoubtedly these other forms of art influence the nature of my painting. I am inspired by the strength and beauty of ballet dancers, so dancers are a favorite subject in my work. I also enjoy traveling so I paint landscapes that become windows to places I've known, places that have become part of my inner universe. I love dogs and enjoy painting them, focusing on that precious bond between a dog and its human. My dog paintings are "best friend" portraits, and I find myself smiling more than usual when I create these paintings. Writing poetry has a special place in my artistic process. Many of my poems grow into paintings, many of my paintings write themselves into poems. Ultimately, for me painting is the coming together of many loves. It is an act of building bridges between an inner and outer world, between myself and others.
